Corporator Updates

Ambassadors to the hospital. Members of the Emerson family.

Emerson Hospital corporators play an important role in connecting residents of our community to the hospital. Their activities range from supporting grassroots promotion of hospital services to serving as a ready source of volunteers to fit the hospital’s many needs, from governance to resource development. Below are recent corporator updates.

Greetings from Chris Schuster, President and CEO

I enjoyed seeing everyone at the Emerson Hospital and Health System Annual Meeting on January 24.  Between our renewing corporators and 22 new corporators who were voted in at the meeting, we now have 196 corporators serving as ambassadors throughout our service area.  It was a pleasure to deliver all the hospital’s good news to our closest friends.

Corporators were well-represented at The Centennial Ball: A Big Party for Little Patients, which was held at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel on November 12, 2011, the actual 100th anniversary of the hospital’s dedication.  The successful event raised $427,000, which will benefit our Pediatric Unit on Wheeler 4, and included a gourmet meal, music, silent auction, birthday cake, champagne toast—and even a visit from Charles Emerson.  It was a great end to the hospital’s centennial year.  Thanks go to everyone who made the gala a success.

Also last fall, the corporator public relations and marketing team partnered with the hospital’s marketing department on a successful event for real estate agents.  The focus was healthy eating on the go; cooking demonstrations were provided by Carolyn Johnson from 80 Thoreau in Concord and Jessica Roy, a dietitian at Emerson.  We also provided guests with plenty of information on the hospital, which they are distributing to new families.

As fiscal year 2011 ended, we exceeded our goal for the hospital’s Annual Appeal.  We had set a goal of $1 million, and we raised $1,070,000.  Thank you to everyone who supported Emerson with a gift.

I look forward to seeing you at the Corporator Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 10, at 5:45 pm.  We are holding the meeting in the evening at the request of corporators who prefer that time.  The venue, Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, also is new.
Thank you for all you do to support Emerson Hospital.
